Specialists analyzed the data obtained during the study of 6,616 children aged 11-12. More than 70 percent of children say they use a smartphone or other device with a screen for at least an hour before bedtime.

During the survey, children also provided information about the lighting in the room, how many hours they sleep and do not sleep, and whether they suffer from sleep problems. It was found that children who used a smartphone or watched TV in a house with lights on had 31 percent more bad sleep.

Children who did this in the dark were 147 percent more likely to have sleep disorders. also Inadequate sleep has been shown to be linked to decreased immunity, depression, anxiety, and obesity. An estimated 90 percent of teenagers worldwide sleep less than the recommended 11 hours a day, and experts attribute this to the proliferation of gadgets. In Great Britain alone, 98% of children between the ages of 12 and 15 watch TV, and more than 90% use smartphones.
